Leh: Following the relieving of Sanjeev Khirwar, Principal Secretary, from the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, the departments previously held by him have been reallocated among senior IAS officers as additional responsibilities, the administration said in an official order.
The redistribution of portfolios has been undertaken to ensure continuity of governance and administrative efficiency in the UT.
Ashish Kundra Gets Additional Charge of Forest, Ecology & Environment
As per the order, Ashish Kundra, IAS, who is currently serving as the Chief Secretary of UT Ladakh, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Forest, Ecology & Environment Department, along with his existing responsibilities.
Dr Laltinkhuma Franklin Assigned Health & Medical Education
Dr. Laltinkhuma Franklin, IAS, presently working as Commissioner Secretary, has been given the additional charge of the Health & Medical Education Department, a key portfolio overseeing healthcare delivery and medical infrastructure in the UT.
Rudra Goud Gets Two Additional Departments
Rudra Goud, IAS, serving as Administrative Secretary, has been assigned additional charge of the Labour & Employment Department and the Science & Technology Department, expanding his administrative responsibilities.
Effective Date of Additional Charges
The order specifies that all three officers will assume charge of their additional departments with effect from January 9, 2026. The arrangement has been made in the wake of Sanjeev Khirwar’s exit to ensure that departmental work continues without disruption.
Administrative Reallocation to Maintain Continuity
The reassignment of portfolios reflects the UT administration’s effort to streamline departmental functioning during a transitional phase and maintain effective oversight across key sectors including environment, healthcare, employment, and technology.
