New Delhi: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Central Government has cleared the appointment of Shailesh Kumar Yadav (IAS:2013:TR) as Deputy Secretary in the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Department of Health & Family Welfare. Simultaneously, Santosh Kumar Verma (IRSS:1995), serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.
Shailesh Kumar Yadav to Join NHA, Delhi
As per the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Shailesh Yadav has been appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of four years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Currently, Yadav is serving in the Tripura government as:
- Director of Industries & Commerce
- Mission Director of Tripura Bamboo Mission
- Managing Director of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Ltd
He is expected to be relieved from his current responsibilities shortly to take charge of his new post in New Delhi. His induction into the National Health Authority comes at a critical time as the NHA continues to steer flagship health initiatives like Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and PM-JAY.
Santosh Kumar Verma Repatriated from Consumer Affairs
In a parallel development, Santosh Kumar Verma (IRSS:1995) has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre from his current posting as Joint Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, on personal grounds.
His tenure, initially sanctioned for five years beginning February 1, 2025, has been curtailed after just six months in office.
The DoPT order also states that an extended cooling-off period has been imposed in connection with his repatriation. No additional details have been disclosed regarding the reasons for this early exit, but such decisions are typically taken in view of administrative needs or personal exigencies.
Conclusion
These latest movements reflect the ongoing efforts of the Government of India to optimise bureaucratic deployment and ensure effective governance across key policy sectors. Yadav’s expertise in industrial development and public administration is expected to bolster NHA’s policy execution, while Verma’s repatriation underscores the flexible nature of high-level government assignments.
