Bengaluru: In a significant bureaucratic development, IAS officer Sindhu B Rupesh, an IAS officer of 2011 batch from Karnataka cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Space (DoS), Bengaluru under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS).
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on Thursday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved her central deputation for a tenure of five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Bringing Strong Administrative Experience to India’s Space Programme
Sindhu B Rupesh brings with her a wealth of administrative experience, having held key posts in the Karnataka state administration. Her transition to the Department of Space aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-ministerial and inter-departmental expertise within critical strategic sectors such as space technology and research.
The Department of Space plays a pivotal role in implementing India’s space program through its flagship agency ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Her posting comes at a time when India is intensifying its space exploration initiatives, including international collaborations, satellite launches, and advancements in commercial space technologies.
