Lucknow: In the latest bureaucratic reshuffle, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has once again placed his trust in IAS officer Ravindra Kumar Mandar, a 2013-batch officer of the UP cadre known for his reformist zeal, social empathy, and administrative acumen. He has been appointed as the new District Magistrate (DM) of Ghaziabad.

The officer, who left behind a promising cricket career to join the Indian Administrative Service, has been entrusted with significant responsibilities, further solidifying his standing as a dependable hand in CM Yogi’s governance model.

A Proven Track Record Across Multiple Districts

Hailing from Jaipur, Rajasthan, Ravindra Kumar Mandar was born in 1988 and cleared the UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2013. Since then, his journey has been marked by transformational leadership across diverse administrative assignments.

Mandar first rose to prominence during his tenure as District Magistrate of Rampur, where he launched Mission Samarth, a flagship initiative that changed lives by facilitating life-altering surgeries for 61 differently-abled children. One standout story was that of Wasim, a school student who received prosthetic hands imported from the United States—worth ₹6 lakh—personally arranged under Mandar’s initiative.

From Jaunpur to Prayagraj: Leadership in Crisis and Celebration

He served as DM of Jaunpur and later Rampur, before being appointed DM of Prayagraj, where he successfully led the Maha Kumbh 2025, earning accolades for managing one of the world’s largest religious gatherings with precision and devotion.

Earlier, he served as Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Agra (2017–2019) and also as Municipal Commissioner of Mathura-Vrindavan (2019–2021), handling critical urban governance responsibilities.

Focus on Water, Housing, and Employment

A key focus of Mandar’s work has been rural development and water conservation. Under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana, he spearheaded the construction of over 900 ponds and multiple river dams, playing a significant role in reviving local water ecosystems and creating employment for more than 40,000 people.

He has also been a strong enabler of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, helping numerous homeless families secure permanent shelter.
