A group of 11 IAS officers-in-training met C. H. Vijayashankar at Lok Bhavan in Shillong on February 27 to discuss governance, public service delivery, and Meghalaya’s development priorities.
The interaction centred on strengthening administrative accountability and advancing citizen-centric governance in the state.
Governor Stresses Transparency and Accountability
During the meeting, the governor underscored the critical responsibility of civil servants to ensure a transparent and responsive administration.
“The pivotal role of civil servants is to ensure transparent, accountable, and citizen-centric administration,” he said, encouraging the young officers to uphold integrity and dedication in public service.

Focus on Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
Highlighting Meghalaya’s distinct socio-cultural landscape, C. H. Vijayashankar emphasised the need for collaboration between the administration and stakeholders to drive inclusive development.
“Meghalaya’s development aspirations require collaborative efforts between the administration and various stakeholders to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable progress,” he noted.
Trainees Pledge Commitment to Public Service
The IAS trainees expressed gratitude for the Governor’s guidance and insights. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the officers to strengthen governance mechanisms and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development agenda.
