IOFS officer Sunil Date, currently serving as Director (Operations) at Gliders India Limited (GIL), has been appointed as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Troop Comforts Limited (TCL).
An Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) officer of the 1989 batch, Date brings with him over three decades of experience across various Ordnance Factories, including HAPF, OFIT, OFPM, and OFAJ. He began his career after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering in 1988, followed by a brief tenure with BHEL’s Industrial Systems Group.
Over the years, he has held key positions in Maintenance, Procurement, Quality, R&D, and Production. At Ordnance Factory Ambajhari, he led the Quality and Maintenance divisions, playing a pivotal role in plant modernization and implementing predictive maintenance initiatives.
A certified Energy Auditor, Date ranked among the top 10 in the 2005 national examination conducted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). He has also contributed to national standards as a member of the Energy Management and Energy Saving Sectional Committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Troop Comforts Limited, headquartered in Kanpur, was established in 2021 as part of the restructuring of the Ordnance Factory Board. The state-owned enterprise supplies clothing and equipment to the Indian Armed Forces and also serves civilian markets.
