Andhra Pradesh Assembly Election and Lok Sabha polls will be held together in April-May 2024. But ahead of Assembly Elections 2024 in Andhra Pradesh, 1990 batch retired IPS officer V. V. Lakshminarayana formed a new political outfit in the state.
At an event in Vijayawada, he announced the launch of the Jai Bharat National Party. He is stated to be fought for special category status to the state.
Mr Narayan is former CBI Joint Director. He has also served as the Additional Director General of Police in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
He contested from Visakhapatnam constituency in the 2019 Indian general election from Jana Sena Party, but lost the poll. He has resigned from the Jana Sena Party in 2020.
Mr Narayana believes that the main reason for high unemployment is the state not getting special category status. Alleging that the YSRCP, the TDP, and the Jana Sena have all sidelined the issue of special category status, he said the JBNP will bring the issue to mainstream discussion.
Lakshmi Narayana recalled that special category status to Andhra Pradesh was promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 and said all parties failed to achieve this despite making tall claims.
