J&K/New Delhi: In a significant reshuffle approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Delhi Police has issued orders transferring three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers—Sukant Shailja Ballabh, Krishan Kumar, and Kamal Pal Singh Malhotra—to Jammu & Kashmir. These transfers will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
Officers Transferred to Jammu & Kashmir
The officers, currently serving in various capacities within the Delhi Police, have been relieved to join their new postings in Jammu & Kashmir. The move is part of the MHA’s efforts to strengthen law enforcement and administrative capabilities in key regions of the country.
Official Orders and Exceptions
The transfers are issued in accordance with:
- MHA Order No. 14020/07/2021-UTS.I dated October 13, 2025
- MHA Order No. 15041/05/2025-UTS-I dated October 7, 2025
- Government of NCT of Delhi Order No. F.5/01/2021/HP-I/Estt. 3667-80 dated November 11, 2025
While most officers have been relieved with immediate effect, Sh. Krishan Kumar, DCP/Special Cell, and Sh. Pankaj Kumar, DCP/Crime, will officially assume their new roles from April 1, 2026.
Officers Transferred to Arunachal Pradesh
As part of the reshuffle, two officers from Delhi Police have been transferred to Arunachal Pradesh:
- Mr Sukhraj Katewa, IPS – DCP/Security (Prime Minister’s Security)
- Mt Pankaj Kumar, IPS – DCP/Crime
These strategic transfers reflect the MHA’s focus on deploying experienced officers to areas with critical security and administrative needs.
Implications of the Reshuffle
The transfers come at a time when Jammu & Kashmir and northeastern states continue to require strong policing and governance leadership. Analysts suggest that deploying experienced IPS officers to these regions will enhance law enforcement efficiency, improve coordination, and ensure better administrative oversight.
