Dr. Rajeev Narayan Mishra, an IPS officer stationed as the commander in the 34 PAC Corps, Varanasi, who oversaw the Magh Mela for two years in a row from 2021 to 2022, managed the responsibilities of this fair admirably. And, once again, the Yogi government has chosen the officer as Magh Mela’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Dr. Rajeev Mishra secured the travellers and security staff at the Magh Mela using the Covid-19 protocol, and the police officers who were discovered to have Covid pandemic symptoms were confined separately.
This explains why the security staff and police PAC jawans involved in the Magh Mela had the least amount of corona spread. As a result, the fair administration was able to deploy the force in various locations as needed.
Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, Paush Purnima, Basant Panchami and Mahashivaratri are considered to be the biggest bathing festivals in Magh Mela. Last year, on Mauni Amavasya, it was difficult to handle such a huge crowd due to the stampede that had arisen due to the sudden increase in the crowd at Sangam, but due to the promptness of Dr. Rajeev Narayan Mishra, a big accident was prevented from happening here.
