The Maharashtra government on Friday appointed IPS officer Rajnish Seth as the new Director General of Police of Maharashtra according to news agency ANI. Mr Seth is a 1988 batch police officer. Prior to his appointment as the state DGP, he was the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Earlier on April 2021, IPS officer Sanjay Pandey was holding the additional charge of DGP.
The appointment of Director General in the state is done through a process. The names of 10 senior officers of the state were sent to UPSC. And out of it 3 names are recommended by UPSC. One of these three is appointed to the post of DGP. Hemant Nagrale, K. Venkatesham, Rajneesh Seth were recommended in these three names.
