Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, has directed the transfer of Thrissur Police Commissioner, Ankit Asokan IPS, amid public scrutiny of the police’s handling of the Thrissur Pooram festival. However, the official transfer will be subject to approval from the Election Commission. Additionally, the government has instructed the transfer of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sudarsan C.
On Sunday, Mr. Vijayan announced a comprehensive investigation into complaints lodged by temple authorities and attendees of the Thrissur Pooram festival.
