Odisha Government Promotes Eight Senior IPS Officers, Prateek Mohanty Elevated to ADG Rank

The promotions take effect from January 1, 2025, reflecting the government’s acknowledgment of the officers' contributions in policing

The Odisha government has announced promotions for eight senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, as per a notification from the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department.

Key Promotions:

  • Mr. Yatindra Koyal (2000 batch) has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) of Police in IPS Level-15 of the Pay Matrix. He will continue in his current position until further orders.
  • Mr. Prateek Mohanty (2000 batch), currently on central deputation, has also been elevated to the rank of ADG of Police.

Promotions to DIG Rank:

Three IPS officers from the 2011 batch have been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in IPS Level-13 of the Pay Matrix:

  • Mr. Pinak Mishra
  • Mr. Banoth Jugal Kishore Kumar
  • Mr. Batuula Gangadhar
  • All three will remain in their current postings until further instructions.

Promotions to IG Rank:

Three IPS officers from the 2016 batch have been promoted to the rank of Inspector General (IG) of Police in IPS Level-14 of the Pay Matrix:

  • Mr. Awinash Kumar
  • Mr. Sarthak Sarangi
  • Mr. Niti Shekhar

They, too, will continue in their current roles until further orders.

The promotions take effect from January 1, 2025, reflecting the government’s acknowledgment of the officers’ contributions and ensuring career progression within the Odisha Police cadre.
