It is not everyday that people launch an agitation in support of a bureaucrat. One has to be extremely popular in the area for such an event. It recently happened in Rajashthan where Rajashthan Cadre 2015-batch IPS Officer, Mridul Kachhawa, presently posted as Superintendent of Police, Karauli was sought to be transferred out by local Todabheem MLA, PR Meena. The move was countered by a huge protest procession taken out by the local people.
The MLA had actually accused the officer of corruption, collection of monthly bonds, not giving respect to public representatives and promoting crime. PR Meena had written a letter to Mr Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan demanding Mridul’s transfer.
This led to a protest in the district against the allegations made by MLA PR Meena on Karauli SP. A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister by the Karauli Sarva Samaj against the MLA in front of the Collectorate demanding that the allegations leveled against the SP be quashed.
People also commented on social media in support of SP and against Todabhim MLA. On Twitter, people are posting it in support of the SP by writing about the truth being harassed. They also burnt MLA’s effigies.
