In a recent development, former IPS officer Mr. Vijay Kumar (1988 batch) and his wife joined the BJP in Uttar Pradesh merely a week ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Mr. Vijay Kumar was posted as the acting director general of police of Uttar Pradesh from May 2023 to January 2024. He joined BJP, saying he was impressed with the party’s policies.
He said, “I am impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I have worked with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister (Yogi Adityanath). Impressed by his style of working and the positive atmosphere he has created, I have joined (the BJP). We have joined the party with the aim of social service.”
Mr. Kumar picked up the saffron flag at the party’s headquarters in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.
