In a significant move, the West Bengal government announced a reshuffle within its IPS hierarchy, appointing Mr. Ajay Kumar Thakur (2007-batch IPS officer) as the new Commissioner of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. This decision, announced on Saturday, marks a leadership change for the region.
Mr. Alok Rajoria (IPS), the former Commissioner, has been reassigned as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic for West Bengal Police, a shift aimed at optimizing traffic management and policing across the state.
Furthermore, Mr. Raj Narayan Mukherjee (IPS), who was previously serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic, has been appointed as the Commandant of the State Armed Police (SAP) 2nd Battalion. This transition reflects a strategic realignment within the state police force to improve efficiency and operational coordination.
