Senior IPS officer Binod Kumar succumbed to corona. He was under medication from the last four days at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna. According to a doctor in the hospital, Mr. Kumar took his last breath on Sunday morning. He had developed breathing issues after being admitted in the hospital.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar and other leaders have expressed their sincere condolences on the demise of this polite and patient officer.
Mr. Kumar was originally an state service officer and was promoted to IPS in 2011. He was the first Inspector General of Purnea Range and took the charge on august 2019. He hailed from Nalanda district and was suffering from chronic diseases like hypertension & diabetes.
The officer was 59 years old and his superannuation was due on next year.
Let it be noted that it’s the first time that any IPS officer has died in Bihar due to corona. The state which is preparing for an assembly election is still struggling with the pandemic. In the last two months, two cabinet ministers- Kapil Dev Kamat and Vinod Singh also died due to this virus. There are still more than 10 thousand active cases in the state while, the total number has reached to 2,00,709.
