About Preeti Priyadarshini
Preeti Priyadarshini is a seasoned IPS officer known for her professionalism and leadership in law enforcement. Since her induction into the Indian Police Service in 2012, she has served in various key positions across Uttarakhand, gaining extensive experience in both field operations and administrative responsibilities.
Her central deputation to the ITBP marks a significant step in her career and aligns with the Centre’s continued effort to strengthen leadership within India’s border security forces.
About the ITBP
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police was raised in 1962, primarily to guard the 3,488-km Indo-China border. Over the years, it has evolved into a multi-dimensional force trained in high-altitude warfare, disaster response, and internal security operations. Officers on deputation to the ITBP play a crucial role in strategic deployment and coordination, especially given the current regional sensitivities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Deputation and Policy Framework
Under the IPS Tenure Policy, officers are eligible for central deputation after completing a minimum number of years in state service. Deputation to paramilitary forces like the ITBP provides officers an opportunity to gain specialized experience in national security and border management.
