Mr. Pradip Kumar Das, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), delivered a keynote address at the Odisha Solar Investor Conclave, organized by GRIDCO on Monday.

In his address, Mr. Das emphasized the critical importance of accessible financing in driving the adoption and expansion of renewable energy (RE) projects. He highlighted IREDA’s unique position as a competitive financier, with fully digitized, borrower-friendly, and paperless operations designed to provide seamless support for green energy initiatives.

He reaffirmed IREDA’s commitment to supporting Odisha’s renewable energy ambitions, noting the state’s target of achieving 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. To date, IREDA has sanctioned over Rs. 3,000 crore for various green energy projects in Odisha, including solar, hydro, ethanol, and renewable energy manufacturing.

Mr. Das also underscored Odisha’s potential to become a leading solar power producer and a hub for solar equipment manufacturing. Highlighting IREDA’s national contributions, he shared that the agency has sanctioned over Rs. 2.08 lakh crore and disbursed Rs. 1.36 lakh crore for renewable energy projects across the country.

IREDA has played a pivotal role in fostering market formation for emerging renewable energy technologies, including ethanol production, EV fleet financing, pumped storage hydropower, and green ammonia.

Reiterating IREDA’s vision, Mr. Das stated that the agency aims to contribute 10-15% of the renewable energy debt financing space, aligning with India’s broader green energy goals.

The conclave served as a platform for stakeholders to explore opportunities and strategies to bolster Odisha’s renewable energy sector, with IREDA’s contributions marking a significant step towards realizing the state’s ambitious energy targets.
