New Delhi: The Government of India has appointed Dr. Ranjay Choudhary as Director (Finance) of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC) with effect from June 30, 2026. The appointment has been made with the sanction of the President and conveyed through the Ministry of Railways.
Choudhary will hold the position from the afternoon of June 30, 2026, to June 30, 2031, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The appointment is subject to the applicable provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.
Ranjay Choudhary Appointed IRFC Director (Finance)
Dr. Ranjay Choudhary was co-opted as an Additional Director and designated as Director (Finance) for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge.
Before joining IRFC, Choudhary served as Chief General Manager, Entity Appraisal, at Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC). He brings more than 29 years of professional experience in finance and financial management.
His areas of expertise include:
- Finance
- Loan appraisal
- Treasury management
- Financial operations
Choudhary holds 50 equity shares in IRFC and is not related to any Director or Key Managerial Personnel of the company.

Appointment Subject to Companies Act Provisions
The appointment of Choudhary is subject to the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.
Either side can terminate the appointment by providing three months’ notice or by making a payment equivalent to three months’ salary in lieu of the notice period.
The Government will also review Choudhary’s performance after the completion of his first year to decide on his continuance for the remaining tenure.
Salary, Allowances and Other Benefits
As a Board-level executive of a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), Choudhary will be entitled to allowances, benefits and other perks applicable under the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) guidelines.
These include:
- Dearness Allowance (DA)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA)
- Performance Related Pay (PRP)
- Superannuation benefits
- Other applicable Board-level executive benefits
Ranjay Choudhary’s Experience in Finance
Choudhary’s appointment brings extensive experience in financial management to IRFC. During his tenure at Power Finance Corporation, he served as Chief General Manager in Entity Appraisal, where his responsibilities involved areas related to financial assessment and loan appraisal.
With more than 29 years of experience, his background in finance, treasury management and loan appraisal is relevant to IRFC’s role as a key financing institution supporting Indian Railways.
