New Delhi: In a significant reshuffle within Indian Railways, Vivek Kumar Gupta (IRMS) has been appointed as the new General Manager (GM) of Western Railway, one of the country’s largest and busiest railway zones. Gupta succeeds Ashok Kumar Mishra, who retired on June 30.
Before this new role, Gupta served as the Managing Director of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), where he demonstrated strong leadership in advancing India’s high-speed rail projects. His extensive experience across various senior roles within the Indian Railways is expected to bring fresh momentum and strategic direction to the Western Railway zone.
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava Appointed GM of South Central Railway
In a related development, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava (IRSE) has been appointed General Manager of South Central Railway, headquartered in Secunderabad. Srivastava was previously serving as the General Manager of the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) in Prayagraj.
His move to South Central Railway comes on a lateral shift basis, indicating a strategic placement to leverage his expertise in railway electrification and operations in one of India’s key railway zones.
Leadership Changes to Strengthen Railway Operations
These appointments are part of the Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to optimize leadership across its zones, aiming to boost operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and service delivery. Both Gupta and Srivastava bring specialized skills and extensive experience, positioning them well to handle the challenges and opportunities in their respective zones.
