New Delhi: Bharat Prakash, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2006 batch (C&IT), currently on central deputation as Joint Development Commissioner at the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), has been repatriated to his parent cadre with an extended cooling-off period.
Bharat Prakash, who holds a Director-level position at the Office of the Development Commissioner, MSME, will return to his original cadre with the stipulation of an extended cooling-off period. This period, a regulatory requirement for officers in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), mandates a return to their state or parent cadre after serving on deputation to the central government.
In instances of premature repatriation, like in this case, an extended cooling-off period is applied. This provision adds the remaining duration of the officer’s approved central deputation to the standard cooling-off requirement, delaying their eligibility for further central assignments. This regulatory mechanism ensures that the balance between central service and state cadre obligations is maintained while discouraging premature departures from central postings.
The extended cooling-off period serves to uphold fairness and efficiency, allowing experienced officers adequate time back in their home cadre before they are considered for further assignments at the central level.
