Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta (1992 batch IPS) was mandated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to assume office as the new Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh. The apex poll body directed the new DGP to take charge immediately and send a compliance report to the ECI.
Mr. Gupta will replace Mr. KV Rajendranath (1992-batch IPS) as the new DGP after the latter was transferred by the ECI on May 5. Mr. Gupta made the cut from a list of three names sent by the Andhra government to the EC that also featured IPS officers Dwaraka Tirumala Rao (1989 batch) and Madireddy Pratap (1990 batch).
