Ranchi: The Central Budget 2026 has laid out a comprehensive roadmap for security and development in Jharkhand‘s Naxal-affected regions, aiming to eliminate Naxalism in the state by March 31, 2026. Finance Minister has emphasized strengthening security infrastructure while accelerating development to bring these regions into the mainstream.

Increased Security Funding for Naxal-Affected Areas

The budget has increased security expenditure (SRE) by 20%, raising it to ₹3,610.80 crore. This funding is expected to directly benefit remote Naxal-affected districts such as West Singhbhum and Budha Pahar. The focus will be on enhancing security cycles and improving operational efficiency of the forces deployed in these regions.

Modernization of State Police Forces

To further strengthen law enforcement, ₹4,061.34 crore has been allocated for modernizing the state police. This will equip security personnel with advanced weapons, GPS tracking systems, and drones, ensuring better surveillance and quicker response to Naxal activities.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has also prioritized the construction of new Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to eliminate remaining Naxal strongholds, thereby improving the operational reach of security forces.

Development Initiatives to Empower Local Communities

Alongside security measures, the budget emphasizes development in Naxal-affected areas to address the root causes of insurgency. Key initiatives include:

  • Expansion of 4G and 5G networks for better digital connectivity
  • Increased road construction funding to improve accessibility
  • Additional allocations for Eklavya Model Residential Schools and skill development centers to provide education and vocational training
  • Programs to integrate local youth into the mainstream and generate employment opportunities

These steps aim to create a balance between security enforcement and socio-economic development, ensuring long-term stability in the region.

Roadmap to Naxalism-Free Jharkhand by 2026

The Central Budget 2026 presents a dual approach of security and development to eliminate Naxalism in Jharkhand. Strengthening the security apparatus, modernizing police forces, improving connectivity, and empowering youth through education and skill development are all part of the strategic roadmap. Officials hope that this integrated approach will lead to a Naxal-free Jharkhand by March 2026.
