Jharkhand: Heavy Shortage of IPS Officers; 22 Posts Completely Vacant

Jharkhand Police is facing acute shortage of IPS officers. There are 26 such important posts of IPS officers in the state, which are running in additional charge. Similarly, there are 22 such posts, which are completely lying vacant. The lack of force has a direct bearing on the performance of administrative tasks. Due to delay in supervision, the number of pending cases is increasing.

The sanctioned post of IPS officers in Jharkhand is 149, in which eight new posts have been added recently. That is, there are a total of 104 IPS officers in the Jharkhand cadre against the total 157 posts created in the state. Of these 104 IPS officers, 19 are on central deputation. Three IPS officers are undergoing training at the National Police Academy, Hyderabad. That is, at present only 82 IPS officers are working.

Three other IPS officers are also set to go on central deputation. In this way only 79 IPS officers will be left in the state after a few days. Among them, there are many officers who are new, who have been posted as Sub-Divisional Police Officer and DSP.
