Jharkhand’s Industry Secretary Mr. Arwa Rajkamal, a 2008-batch IAS officer, and Mr. Varun Ranjan, a 2014-batch IAS officer and Managing Director of the Jharkhand Industrial Area Development Authority (JIADA), held a series of strategic meetings in New Delhi with Japanese institutions to explore avenues for industrial and technological collaboration in the state.

Focus on International Partnerships
The meetings, conducted under the directive of Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren, aimed to review and strengthen Jharkhand’s potential partnerships with international agencies in key areas such as industrial development, health infrastructure, and skill training. The delegation began by engaging with Ms. Aditi Puri, Senior Development Specialist at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), presenting the state’s ongoing and upcoming projects. JICA officials reviewed the proposals and held discussions on future cooperation frameworks.
JETRO to Facilitate Investor Engagement
The delegation also met Mr. Suzuki Takashi, Chief Director General of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), who expressed JETRO’s willingness to support investor outreach initiatives. Both sides agreed to organise joint events that will attract Japanese companies to invest in Jharkhand and explore mutually beneficial industrial opportunities.
NEC Explores Technology and Skill-Based Collaborations
In a separate meeting at Jharkhand Bhawan, Mr. Ryohei Aiba, a Corporate Strategy representative from NEC Corporation, held detailed discussions on digital infrastructure, rare earth mineral extraction technologies, and plans to establish a Japanese language academy in Jharkhand. NEC expressed strong interest in contributing to the state’s digital transformation and skill development initiatives.
Roadmap for Joint Activities Underway
The meetings concluded with a consensus on identifying clear cooperation areas and setting actionable steps for future engagement between Jharkhand and the participating Japanese organizations. The state government continues to push forward its vision of sustainable industrial growth by attracting global partnerships and promoting innovation-driven development.
