In a major administrative development, the Jharkhand government has promoted nine senior Deputy Superintendents of Police to the prestigious Indian Police Service rank following recommendations from the Union Public Service Commission. With this key decision, the number of SP-rank IPS officers in the state has increased from 71 to 80, marking a substantial rise in leadership strength within the policing framework.

This long-awaited notification from the Home, Prisons, and Disaster Management Department has brought considerable joy to officers who had been patiently awaiting career advancement. A Merit-Based Selection Backed by UPSC Evaluation
The promotions were granted on the basis of exceptional performance and strong Annual Confidential Reports. From a list of 17 officers submitted by the state government, the UPSC recommended these nine officers after a detailed assessment. Once the Commission approved the names, the final proposal was forwarded to the state government, which issued the official notification confirming their induction into the IPS cadre.
