Malur Judge Transfer: Why Was the Judge Transferred

The transfer follows the Karnataka High Court’s July 28 order, in which the Court directed action against the judge over a road rage incident. After reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence, Justice M. Nagaprasanna observed that the judge was involved in an altercation with two motorcycle riders after they allegedly overtook her private vehicle.

High Court Criticised the Judge’s Conduct

In its earlier order, the High Court said the judge’s behaviour shown in the CCTV footage was not consistent with the dignity and standards expected from a judicial officer. The Court also noted that criminal proceedings initiated against the two riders at the judge’s instance should continue while the investigation is completed according to law.

Administrative Action Taken

Following the July 28 order, the High Court directed that the matter be placed before the Chief Justice for appropriate administrative action. The transfer of the judge has now been carried out as part of that administrative decision.
