New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has officially accepted the resignation of IPS officer Kamya Mishra, as per a notification issued on March 27, 2025. Mishra had submitted her resignation in August 2024, citing personal reasons.
However, instead of immediately processing her resignation, the authorities granted her 180 days of leave in November 2024, providing her with time to reconsider her decision.
Kamya Mishra, a 2019-batch IPS officer, had cleared the UPSC exam at the age of 22 with an impressive all-India rank of 172. Originally from Odisha, she was transferred from the Himachal Pradesh cadre to the Bihar cadre. Mishra’s last posting was as the Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) in Darbhanga, Bihar, from where she chose to submit her resignation.
Mishra had previously garnered attention for her role in investigating the daylight murder of the father of former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahani. Her departure from service marks the end of a promising career in the Indian Police Service, though she cited personal reasons for stepping down.
Her husband, Avdhesh Saroj Dixit, is also a 2019-batch IPS officer from the Bihar cadre, further adding to the couple’s significant presence in the police service. Mishra’s resignation leaves a void in the Bihar police administration, particularly after her contributions to law enforcement and public safety.
