Bengaluru: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Karnataka government has transferred two senior IAS officers and assigned them new secretary-level responsibilities, effective immediately. The decision was formalized through an official notification issued on Tuesday, January 7, 2026.
Salma K. Fahim Appointed Secretary, Labour Department
Salma K. Fahim (IAS:2006:KN), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Secretary of the Labour Department, Bengaluru. She assumes the role until further orders, relieving Mohammad Mohsin (IAS) from the concurrent charge of the department.
In addition to her Labour Department responsibilities, Fahim has also been given concurrent charge as Secretary of the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, Bengaluru. This comes following the transfer of Kanaga Valli M. (IAS), who previously held the post.

Kanaga Valli M. Takes Charge of Food, Civil Supplies, and KSMSCL
Kanaga Valli M. (IAS:2010:KN), the former Secretary of the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology Department, Bengaluru. She takes over from Dr Prasad NV (IAS), who held concurrent charge previously.
Furthermore, Kanaga Valli M. has been entrusted with the concurrent charge of Managing Director of Karnataka State Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (KSMSCL), Bengaluru, effective immediately and until further orders.
