Karnataka: IPS D. Roopa Moudgil Files Defamation Case Against IAS Rohini Sindhuri

Bengaluru: 2000 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre, D. Roopa Moudgil has filed a defamation lawsuit against 2009 batch IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, accusing her of making derogatory and harmful allegations in a public statement. The case filed in the 7th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

On February 19, 2023, a media statement issued by Rohini Sindhuri contained defamatory remarks about D. Roopa Moudgil. The statement, which was later shared widely on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and reached lakhs of viewers, has reportedly caused significant damage to Moudgil’s reputation, both professionally and personally. The senior officer claims the remarks have also caused immense mental distress to her family, including her sister, husband, and children.

In the aftermath of the incident, Sindhuri was transferred from her position, with no new role assigned to her for six months. During this period, her salary was withheld. Moudgil has petitioned the court, requesting criminal action against Sindhuri for the alleged defamation.
