The Pinarayi Vijayan led Kerala government has undertaken a significant reshuffle of its IPS officers, impacting numerous districts and special units across the state. This move comes as part of a broader strategy to streamline and strengthen the police administration.

In the latest shake-up, 2011 batch IPS officer Narayanan T, the former district police chief of Wayanad, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Kozhikode City. His previous position will be filled by 2016 batch IPS officer Shilpa D, who was formerly the Assistant Inspector General of Police (Procurement). Ms Shilpa will now serve as the District Police Chief for Kasaragod.

Chaitra Teresa John, an IPS officer of 2015 batch and the previous district police chief of Alappuzha, has been transferred to Kollam City as the new Commissioner of Police.

Meanwhile, 2019 batch IPS officer Anuj Paliwal has been appointed as the new District Police Chief for Kannur Rural, and Nidhinraj P will take over the role for Kozhikode Rural.

Taposh Basumatary will replace the outgoing Kottayam police chief, with Shahul Hameed A stepping into the role of District Police Chief for Kottayam. This reshuffle aligns with recent top-level appointments and is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and governance within the police force.

In a notable change, S. Sreejith has been promoted to the position of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) at Police Headquarters, succeeding A. Akbar, who will now serve as the Transport Commissioner. Other key appointments include Yogesh Gupta as the Vigilance Director and Harshita Attalluri, previously Inspector General (IG) at Police Headquarters, as the new Managing Director of the Beverages Corporation (Bevco).

Sheik Darvesh Sahib, the current Director General of Police (DGP), will now also serve as the Chairman of the Kerala Police Housing Corporation, with J. Jayanath taking over as its new Managing Director. C. Nagarajalu, the former CMD of the Kerala Police Housing Corporation, has been appointed IG of the Thiruvananthapuram Crime Branch.

Further changes include S. Ajitha Begum, previously Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Thrissur Range, being assigned as DIG of the Thiruvananthapuram Range. Thomson Jose will manage both the Kannur and Thrissur Ranges.

The reshuffle list includes the following key appointments:

  • Rajpal Meena – Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kannur Range.
  • Karthick K – Superintendent of Police, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (Headquarters).
  • Sujith Das S – District Police Chief, Pathanamthitta.

The reorganization aims to address emerging challenges and reinforce the efficiency of the police force across Kerala. The changes are expected to foster a more responsive and effective policing environment in the state.
