Kerala Police Chief Anil Kant felicitated policewoman MR Ramya for breastfeeding an infant separated from the mother on Monday. A Civil Police Officer Ms. Ramya is posted at Kozhikode Chevayur Police Station. Her family were invited to the police headquarters and she was honoured with a certificate of appreciation. “This act of compassion in treating the famished infant had enhanced the reputation of the police force”, said the police chief on the occasion. Not only the placer but high court judge Devan Ramachandran also appreciated her by writing a letter to the police chief.
Let it be noted that a 22-year-old woman, the mother of the infant, lodged a complaint with the Chevayur police station that her baby was missing on Saturday morning,. Due to a family dispute, the infant had been taken away from the mother. After receiving the information that the infant is with the father, Sultan Batheri Police found and detained the father travelling with the infant while checking vehicles along the border.
The police rushed the famished and exhausted newborn to a hospital where doctors declared that the infant’s sugar level was low. When Ramya, a lactating mother reached the hospital she fed the infant. And then the infant was united with the mother in evening.
