The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved key appointments and tenure extensions for officers serving in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
New Appointments:
- Mr. R Prakash, a 2008-batch Odisha cadre IPS officer, currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Crime Branch, Odisha, has been inducted as DIG in CBI for an initial tenure of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders.
- Dr. Vidyut Vikash, a 2008-batch IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer, presently Superintendent of Police (SP) in CBI, has been promoted as DIG in CBI. His tenure will extend until February 18, 2025 (eight years in total) or until further orders.
Tenure Extensions:
The deputation tenure of two IPS officers currently serving as DIGs in CBI has been extended for two more years:
- Ms. Neethu Kamal, a 2008-batch Chhattisgarh cadre IPS officer – Tenure extended from March 26, 2025, to March 25, 2027 (seven years in total).
- Mr. Abhinav Khare, a 2009-batch Karnataka cadre IPS officer – Tenure extended from March 23, 2025, to March 22, 2027 (seven years in total).
These decisions reflect the government’s continued focus on strengthening the leadership within CBI to enhance its operational efficiency.
