Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that India and Germany share a relationship “like two brothers,” and emphasized that Madhya Pradesh will play a key role in strengthening the partnership between the two countries. He made these remarks during a courtesy meeting with a four-member German delegation at the state Secretariat in Bhopal on Friday.
The delegation included senior representatives from Germany’s KfW Development Bank and the German Embassy, who discussed expanding cooperation in the energy and infrastructure sectors in Madhya Pradesh.
High-Level German Delegation Meets CM in Bhopal
The German delegation was led by Dr. Christiane Laibach, Executive Board Member and CEO of KfW Development Bank. Other members included Country Director Wolfgang Mooth and representatives from the German Embassy.
Senior officials from Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation and the Central Government also attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on increasing collaboration in energy reforms and infrastructure development projects in the state.

Madhya Pradesh to Play Key Role in India–Germany Partnership
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted the long-standing friendship between India and Germany and said that Madhya Pradesh is actively strengthening ties with German investors and industrial partners.
He said the state government is committed to making Madhya Pradesh an energy-efficient, green, and prosperous state with international cooperation.
KfW Bank Investment in Energy Reforms in MP
The KfW Development Bank delegation informed the Chief Minister about ongoing and proposed financial support for energy sector reforms in Madhya Pradesh.
Key highlights include:
- Around ₹1,120 crore funding for Energy Reform Programme
- Installation of smart meters in distribution companies
- Feeder separation projects to improve electricity distribution
The bank also expressed interest in providing approximately €200 million under the Energy Reform Phase-2 initiative.
Focus on Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Development
The proposed Phase-2 collaboration aims to strengthen:
- Electricity distribution infrastructure
- Solar-hour based agricultural feeder supply systems
- Overall modernization of the power sector
These initiatives are expected to improve efficiency and promote clean energy usage across the state.
Stronger India–Germany Economic Cooperation
CM Yadav reiterated that Madhya Pradesh will serve as a key partner in expanding India–Germany cooperation, particularly in sustainable energy and industrial development.
He welcomed continued German investment and technological support to help transform the state into a model of green and efficient development.
The meeting between Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the German delegation marks a significant step toward deepening international cooperation in Madhya Pradesh’s energy sector. With major investments planned by KfW Bank, the state is expected to witness major improvements in power infrastructure, smart energy systems, and renewable energy adoption.
