Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has emphasized that farmer welfare is the top priority of the state government and stressed the need to reduce farming costs while increasing farmers’ income. He was reviewing the ongoing activities under the “Krishak Kalyan Varsh 2026” during a meeting held at the Secretariat in Bhopal on Friday.
The Chief Minister directed officials to implement all agriculture and farmer welfare schemes in mission mode and ensure direct communication with farmers from the state capital to the grassroots level.
Mission Mode Implementation for Farmer Welfare Schemes
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said that strengthening farmers’ livelihoods requires prioritizing key agricultural interventions. He reiterated that 2026 has been declared as “Krishak Kalyan Varsh” to accelerate welfare-oriented initiatives.
He instructed that:
- Farmer-focused programmes must be implemented in mission mode
- Direct farmer interaction programmes should be organised at all levels
- Agricultural extension activities should reach village-level beneficiaries effectively
The Chief Minister also reviewed upcoming programmes planned under the initiative.

Focus on Reducing Farming Costs and Increasing Income
The Chief Minister emphasized two key priorities:
- Reducing the cost of cultivation
- Increasing farmers’ income
He said that dairy production plays an important role in enhancing rural incomes and suggested expanding access to improved cattle breeds.
He also proposed involving private institutions to help provide high-quality cows to farmers and expand such centres at the rural level.
Promotion of Sustainable and Scientific Farming
CM Yadav stressed the need to promote:
- Low water consumption crops
- Short-duration crop varieties
- Crop diversification
- Natural and organic farming practices
He also directed officials to align agricultural awareness programmes with local festivals and crop cycles to improve farmer participation and outreach.
Digital Transformation of Cooperative Societies
The Chief Minister instructed that cooperative society processes should be fully digitized to ensure transparency and ease of access for farmers.
Key reforms include:
- Digitisation of cooperative services
- Simplified procedures for farmers
- Improved efficiency in agricultural support systems
An online Kisan Credit Card (KCC) portal and e-passbook facility for farmers will also be launched in July 2026.
Statewide Agricultural Events and Festivals Planned
The government has announced a series of agriculture-related events across the state to promote innovation and farmer engagement.
Key upcoming events include:
- State Cooperative Conference
- State-level award ceremony for farmers and livestock rearers in Ujjain
- Balram Krishi Mahotsav in all districts
- Food festivals at divisional headquarters
- Vegetable festival in Indore
- Banana festival in Burhanpur
- Cotton and chilli festivals in Khargone
- Fisheries and aquaculture symposium in Jabalpur
- Poultry and entrepreneurship conference in Jabalpur
- FPO (Farmer Producer Organisation) conference in Sagar and Ratlam
- Modern horticulture workshop in Neemuch
- Straw management workshop in Bhopal
- Sugarcane festival in Narsinghpur
These events aim to promote agricultural innovation, value addition, and farmer entrepreneurship.
Strengthening Dairy, Fisheries and Agri-Based Entrepreneurship
The state government is also focusing on allied sectors such as dairy farming, fisheries, poultry, and horticulture to diversify rural income sources.
CM Yadav emphasized that these sectors will play a key role in strengthening the rural economy and increasing employment opportunities.
Leadership and Administrative Presence
The review meeting was attended by senior officials including the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and the Director of Public Relations, along with other senior administrative officers.
The Madhya Pradesh government’s “Krishak Kalyan Varsh 2026” initiative reflects a comprehensive approach to farmer welfare, focusing on income enhancement, cost reduction, digital transformation, and agricultural diversification. With large-scale outreach programmes and modernization efforts, the state aims to strengthen its rural economy and improve farmer livelihoods.
