BEL Lays Foundation Stone for Modern Crematorium at Lucknow Cantonment Under CSR Initiative

Lucknow: A foundation stone has been laid for the construction of a Modern Crematorium Facility at the Lucknow Cantonment Board, with the project being funded by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The foundation stone ceremony was graced by Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister of India). The initiative is aimed at developing a dignified, modern and compassionate facility to meet the evolving needs of the local community.

The ceremony was attended by several senior dignitaries and officials, including:

  • Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri
  • Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh
  • Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, BEL
  • Senior officials from the Directorate General Defence Estates (DGDE)
  • Officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD)
  • Elected public representatives

The participation of senior government and defence officials highlighted the significance of the infrastructure development initiative for the Lucknow Cantonment area.

BEL Funds Modern Crematorium Facility Through CSR

The upcoming crematorium facility is being funded by Bharat Electronics Limited under its CSR programme.

The project forms part of the broader development plan of the Lucknow Cantonment Board and reflects BEL’s focus on supporting community infrastructure and welfare initiatives in the regions associated with its operations.

The facility is being planned with an emphasis on both functionality and the needs of families during difficult times.

Facility Designed for Dignified Last Rites

The modern crematorium has been envisioned as more than just a functional infrastructure facility. It is intended to provide a peaceful and dignified environment for remembrance, reflection and healing for grieving families.
