Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has described the Nagar Van Yojana as a powerful blueprint for connecting urban areas with nature and promoting sustainable urban development. Under the state government’s green development vision, the scheme is emerging as a successful model that balances environmental conservation with rapid urbanization through community participation and innovative ecological initiatives.

Launched by the Forest Department in 2020, the initiative is transforming urban landscapes by developing urban forests and green spaces across the state, helping improve air quality, biodiversity conservation, and public well-being.

Nagar Van Yojana Driving Sustainable Urban Development in Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the scheme has become an effective solution to address challenges posed by rapid urbanization, shrinking green cover, and growing environmental pressures.

The Madhya Pradesh government has approved the development of 94 Nagar Vans and Nagar Vatikas across the state.

Officials emphasized that Nagar Van Yojana goes beyond simple plantation drives.

Butterfly Gardens, Miyawaki Forests and Nature Trails Added

Several Nagar Vans are incorporating innovative ecological features.

  • Miyawaki plantation models

  • Jaitpur and Laharpur Nagar Vans in Bhopal
  • Neelganga Nagar Van in Ujjain
  • Devguradia and IIT-area Nagar Vans in Indore
  • Shankargarh Hills Nagar Van in Jabalpur
  • Kailash Nagar-Bagli and Diwatpur Nagar Vans in Dewas
  • Narmada Khel Park Nagar Van in Narsinghpur
  • Mandleshwar Nagar Van in Mandla

Urban forests are also being developed in districts including Umaria, Neemuch, Sheopur, Sagar, Khandwa, Khargone, Alirajpur, Betul, and Chhindwara.
