Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed a state-level conference of Gram Rojgar Sahayaks (Village Employment Assistants) held at Jamburi Maidan in Bhopal, highlighting their crucial role in rural development and governance. He described them as the “backbone of village development” and said the state government is committed to safeguarding their interests.
The event brought together thousands of rural employment assistants from across Madhya Pradesh, along with senior officials and representatives of employee organizations.
Key Role of Gram Rojgar Sahayaks in Rural Development
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized that Gram Rojgar Sahayaks play a vital role in strengthening rural governance and making villages self-reliant. He compared their contribution to that of Hanuman in supporting larger goals, underscoring their dedication at the grassroots level.
He stated that these workers serve as a key link between the government and rural citizens, ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes and development programs in Gram Panchayats.

Driving Digital Governance and DBT Implementation
Highlighting the importance of technology in governance, the Chief Minister said that Gram Rojgar Sahayaks are actively contributing to India’s digital transformation vision under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He noted their role in the successful implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring that welfare scheme benefits reach the intended beneficiaries directly. According to him, this system has strengthened transparency and efficiency in public service delivery.
Support for Women, Farmers, Youth, and the Poor
Dr. Yadav said that the state and central governments are focused on empowering women, farmers, youth, and economically weaker sections. Gram Rojgar Sahayaks are playing an essential role in ensuring that welfare schemes reach these groups effectively.
He also highlighted their involvement in implementing programs such as the “Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission,” helping resolve public issues at the village level through coordinated administrative efforts.

Contribution to Water Conservation Initiatives
The Chief Minister praised Gram Rojgar Sahayaks for their significant contribution to water conservation efforts under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan. He said Madhya Pradesh has achieved notable success in water conservation due to their dedication. Their work includes reviving and maintaining wells, ponds, stepwells, rivers, and promoting water conservation awareness among rural communities.
Government Assurance on Welfare and Honorarium
Dr. Yadav assured that the state government will take necessary steps to improve the welfare and working conditions of Gram Rojgar Sahayaks. He stated that discussions will be held with stakeholders and representatives before taking further decisions regarding benefits and facilities. He also mentioned that earlier the government had already doubled their remuneration and reiterated its commitment to further improvements.
Financial Assistance Announced for Deceased Workers
Expressing grief over the accidental death of two Gram Rojgar Sahayaks, Mr. Meena and Mr. Lakhan, who were traveling to attend the conference, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance for their families.
The state government will provide ₹10 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Additionally, ₹1 lakh will be given to a seriously injured worker, while ₹50,000 each will be provided to those with minor injuries for medical support. Dr. Yadav prayed for peace to the departed souls and expressed condolences to their families.

The conference was attended by several dignitaries including Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh State Employee Welfare Committee Shri Rameshchandra Sharma, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh General Secretary Shri Kuldeep Gurjar, along with Shri Ravi Bhatt, Shri Rakesh Pandya, and other representatives.
