Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced the establishment of a large-scale rail coach manufacturing unit under Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). The project, titled Brahma Project (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing), will be developed in village Umaria of Raisen district, near the Bhopal border. Initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the project will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,800 crore across more than 60 hectares of land.
Boost to Employment and Regional Development
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav emphasized that the BEML project will bring significant industrial growth to Raisen, Sehore, and Vidisha districts. It is expected to generate over 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities, especially benefiting youth from local technical institutes. He noted that the Bhopal region, which is rapidly expanding into a metropolitan hub, will derive long-term advantages from the project.
Groundbreaking Ceremony on August 10 in Obedullaganj
The Bhoomi Pujan (foundation stone laying) ceremony is scheduled for August 10 at Dussehra Ground, Obedullaganj. Union Defence Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh will preside as chief guest, alongside other dignitaries such as Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Defence Production Secretary Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Railway Board Chairman Mr. Satish Kumar, and BEML Chairman Mr. Shantanu Rai.
A short film, plant walk-through, and models of the proposed facility will be showcased during the event. Approximately 10,000 participants are expected to attend.
Coaches for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and Metro Trains
Dr. Yadav stated that the unit will manufacture Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Metro train coaches, ushering in a new era of railway development in India. He called the initiative a concrete outcome of the ‘Make in India’ mission and a major leap forward for indigenous manufacturing.
Directives for Event Preparation and Public Participation
The Chief Minister urged officials to ensure wide publicity for this transformative project. He instructed that transportation, seating arrangements, refreshments, and drinking water be efficiently managed for the large crowd expected at the event. Dr. Yadav also expressed the importance of involving local residents in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony to ensure public engagement.
Ministers and Officials Present at Review Meeting
The preparatory meeting was attended by Minister of State for Skill Development and Employment (Independent Charge) Mr. Gautam Tetwal, Minister of State for Fisherman Welfare and Fisheries Development (Independent Charge) and Raisen district in-charge minister Mr. Narayan Singh Panwar, and senior government officials. The session focused on reviewing all logistics and arrangements ahead of the ground-breaking ceremony.
