New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), India’s central transmission utility, has achieved a key milestone with the successful commissioning of a major inter-state transmission project through its wholly owned subsidiary, POWERGRID ER NER Transmission Limited. The project commenced commercial operations on July 3, 2025, and received the official Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOCO) on July 11, 2025.
Strengthening the Eastern and North Eastern Power Grid
This project forms part of the “System Strengthening Scheme for Eastern and North Eastern Regions”, a strategic initiative aimed at reinforcing the electricity transmission infrastructure in some of India’s most critical and underserved zones. The project was secured via Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), reflecting the government’s push towards more transparent and cost-effective infrastructure development.

Regulatory Disclosure Filed with Stock Exchanges
The commissioning was disclosed via a regulatory filing with both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), in accordance with Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR). The official filing was signed by Satyaprakash Dash, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer at POWERGRID.
Enhancing Reliability, Modernization, and Energy Access
With this commissioning, POWERGRID continues to play a crucial role in modernizing India’s national grid and ensuring more reliable and efficient power delivery. The project is expected to:
- Improve inter-state energy flow across eastern and northeastern regions
- Enhance grid reliability and reduce transmission losses
- Strengthen energy access in states with growing electricity demand
The new infrastructure marks another step toward achieving the government’s broader vision of a “One Nation, One Grid”, ensuring seamless power transmission across the country.
