New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), India’s central transmission utility, has achieved a key milestone with the successful commissioning of a major inter-state transmission project through its wholly owned subsidiary, POWERGRID ER NER Transmission Limited. The project commenced commercial operations on July 3, 2025, and received the official Declaration of Commercial Operation (DOCO) on July 11, 2025.

Strengthening the Eastern and North Eastern Power Grid

This project forms part of the “System Strengthening Scheme for Eastern and North Eastern Regions”, a strategic initiative aimed at reinforcing the electricity transmission infrastructure in some of India’s most critical and underserved zones. The project was secured via Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), reflecting the government’s push towards more transparent and cost-effective infrastructure development.
