Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Signs MoU with MWRRA to Boost Digital Water Resource Management

Mumbai: Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority (MWRRA) to leverage advanced technology for water resource assessment and sustainable management.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, marking a step towards using digital tools and satellite-based technology for more efficient and data-driven water resource planning.

MDL and MWRRA Join Hands for Water Resource Management

The collaboration will focus on the digital assessment of water resources and the identification of potential solutions using advanced technological tools.

Key areas of the partnership include:

  • Digital assessment of water resources.
  • Data-driven water resource planning.
  • Identification of potential water management solutions.
  • Application of technology for sustainable resource management.

The initiative aims to combine technological capabilities with institutional expertise to improve the availability and use of information for water resource management.

MoU Signed in Presence of Maharashtra CM

The agreement was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Cdr Vasudev Puranik, Director (Corporate Planning & Personnel), MDL, represented Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, while Smt. Shwetali Thakare, Chairperson, MWRRA, represented the Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority.

Other dignitaries were also present during the signing ceremony.

High-Resolution Satellite Imaging to Support Assessment

Under the partnership, high-resolution satellite imaging will be used to obtain detailed information related to water resources.

Satellite-based imagery and digital tools can support authorities in assessing water resources, identifying potential challenges and evaluating possible solutions.

The initiative is focused on using technology and reliable data to support more informed decision-making and long-term water resource planning.

Focus on Data-Driven and Sustainable Water Management

Efficient water management requires accurate and timely information. The use of satellite imaging and digital assessment tools can help strengthen the availability of such information for planning and monitoring. The collaboration is expected to support a more data-driven approach to water resource management, with an emphasis on sustainability and effective utilisation of available resources.

Technology Application Beyond Shipbuilding
