New Delhi: India Optel Limited (IOL) has launched the GARUD Binoculars, bringing its defence-grade optical technology to the civilian market. The launch marks the company’s first major step into the commercial optics sector and supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The GARUD binoculars are designed and manufactured in India and aim to serve outdoor enthusiasts, wildlife observers, security professionals, and adventure travelers.
The product was officially launched on August 13 at DPSU Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of senior government officials and representatives from various organizations.
What Are GARUD Binoculars
GARUD is a new indigenous binocular system developed by India Optel Limited, a Mini Ratna Category-I Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Defence Production.

The binoculars have been developed and manufactured by the Ordnance Factory, Dehradun, using India’s long-standing expertise in precision optics and defence equipment manufacturing.

The launch event was presided over by Joint Secretary (Land Systems) Dr. Garima Bhagat. Senior officials from the Department of Defence Production, Central Armed Police Forces, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Wildlife Society of India, and India Optel attended the event.
