New Delhi/Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 46.51 crores with leading government medical institutions in Cuttack to enhance public healthcare infrastructure in Odisha. The initiatives focus on advanced diagnostic support and improved patient mobility at key hospitals.
Major Diagnostic Upgrade at SCB Medical College
Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, MCL has committed Rs 46.34 crores for the procurement and installation of two 128-Slice Dual Energy CT Scan machines and one 1.5 Tesla MRI machine at Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College & Hospital (SCB MCH), Cuttack.
With an average daily footfall of 8,000–10,000 patients, the addition of these advanced imaging systems is expected to:
- Enhance diagnostic accuracy and precision
- Reduce patient waiting times
- Benefit nearly 25–30 lakh patients annually across Odisha and neighbouring regions

Eco-Friendly Patient Mobility at SVPPGIP
In a separate initiative, MCL signed an MoU with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (SVPPGIP), Cuttack, also known as Shishu Bhawan. The company has allocated Rs 16.99 lakh to procure three 8-seated battery-operated passenger vehicles.
These vehicles will provide safe, efficient, and eco-friendly patient transportation within the hospital campus, enhancing the overall patient experience.
