Raipur: The three-day-long mega DGP/IG conference begins today at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) campus in Naya Raipur. The capital city of Chhattisgarh is all set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will arrive this evening to attend the event alongside Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
Considered the most influential policing dialogue in the country, this 60th edition of the conference will focus on India’s evolving internal security challenges, counterterrorism, left-wing extremism, disaster management, and the integration of artificial intelligence in policing.
Forward-Looking National Policing Agenda
The conference aims to outline a forward-looking national policing framework that emphasizes technology-enabled policing and a future-ready security architecture. Discussions will cover law-and-order management, welfare challenges for police personnel, best practices in crime control, and strategies to strengthen India’s internal security.
According to sources, the conference will host around 300 VVIPs, including Directors General of Police (DGPs) and home secretaries from all states, 20 DG/ADG-rank officers from central paramilitary forces, and heads of intelligence and investigative agencies such as IB and CBI. Selected DIGs, SPs, and heads of state home departments have also been invited to infuse fresh perspectives.
Raipur Becomes Temporary Mini-PMO
During the three-day event, the Speaker’s House in Naya Raipur will function as a temporary PMO, accommodating PM Modi and other dignitaries. Notably, none of the VVIPs will stay in hotels or private facilities, as all accommodations are arranged in government buildings within Naya Raipur.
The state government has made extensive security arrangements, deploying around 2,000 personnel between the Speaker’s House and IIM campus and managing over 650 vehicles. Separate security companies have been posted at the residences of the Prime Minister, Home Minister, NSA, and IB chief for the entire duration of the event.
President’s Police Medals to be Conferred
In addition to security and operational deliberations, the conference will also witness the conferment of the President’s Police Medals for distinguished service, recognizing exemplary contributions by police personnel from across the country.
