Ujjain: On the first day of Hindu New Year (Vikram Samvat 2083), Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed international-standard swimming pool, Taran Tal, in Ujjain. Built at a cost of ₹8.30 crore, this modern facility is expected to nurture future swimmers and provide city residents with a world-class aquatic experience.
Grand Inauguration Ceremony
The inauguration took place with traditional rituals and ribbon-cutting, marking a memorable occasion for the citizens. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed the public, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the pool to ensure its long-term benefits.
The event also included a swimming competition, where winners in the boys’ and girls’ categories were awarded ₹51,000 each. First, second, and third positions were secured by Shivoham Tiwari, Aryan Rajput, and Samarth Gehlot, respectively.

State-of-the-Art Facilities
Constructed on the site of the old Taran Tal, the new swimming pool adheres to international standards, ensuring safety, convenience, and modern amenities for visitors:
- Pool dimensions: 25×50 meters, depth ranging from 4.5 to 6.15 feet.
- Children’s warm-up pool: Depth of 2.5 to 3 feet.
- Visitor gallery: Seating for over 200 people.
- Additional facilities include parking, food court, seating areas, landscaped park, shower areas, waiting room, and modern filtration system.
The swimming pool will be operated and maintained by the Ujjain Municipal Corporation, ensuring smooth management and public accessibility.

Promoting Future Swimmers
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that the new facility would provide a strong foundation for nurturing young swimming talents in Ujjain. Residents will be able to access Taran Tal seven days a week, encouraging sports participation and healthy lifestyles.
Dr. Yadav also expressed excitement at providing the citizens of the Mahakal city an opportunity to enjoy swimming in the holy city of Ujjain, making it a hub for both recreation and professional training.
Taran Tal is poised to become a landmark destination, blending modern infrastructure, international-standard facilities, and community engagement, while fostering the next generation of swimmers in Ujjain.
