MRPL Appoints ONGC Nominee Satyan Kumar as Director on Board Effective July, 2026

Mumbai: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has appointed Satyan Kumar, an ONGC Nominee Director, to its Board of Directors with effect from July 2, 2026. The appointment was formally disclosed by the company through a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

The decision marks a key board-level addition as the company strengthens its leadership amid ongoing transformation in the energy sector.

Regulatory Disclosure and Compliance

MRPL informed stock exchanges that the appointment has been made in accordance with applicable provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, and SEBI regulations.

The company also confirmed that:

  • Satyan Kumar is not debarred from holding the office of Director by SEBI or any other authority
  • He is eligible for appointment under Section 164 of the Companies Act, 2013
  • He is not related to any existing directors of MRPL

About Satyan Kumar

Satyan Kumar currently serves as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs) at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). He brings over 36 years of extensive experience across the oil and gas value chain.

His expertise spans:

  • Upstream oil and gas operations
  • Engineering and project management
  • Marketing and business development
  • Petrochemicals and LNG
  • Corporate strategy and renewable energy initiatives

At ONGC, he has played a significant role in shaping long-term strategic planning, including diversification into petrochemicals, LNG, and green energy sectors.

Professional Experience and Key Projects

Throughout his career at ONGC, Satyan Kumar has been associated with several major infrastructure and energy projects, including:

  • Captive power plant initiatives
  • Hazira–Dahej naphtha pipeline project
  • ONGC’s first 15 MW utility-scale solar power project

He has also contributed to ONGC’s expansion into renewable energy, including solar, wind, and biofuels initiatives.

Leadership Role in ONGC Strategy

In his current leadership position, Satyan Kumar is responsible for:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from Dayalbagh Educational Institution, Agra
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Management from MDI Gurgaon
  • Advanced leadership training from ESCP-EAP, France
