Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur Micro-Lift Irrigation Project, built at a cost of ₹2,387.60 crore, at a ceremony at the sports complex in Sardarpur, Dhar district, on Saturday.
The project aims to provide irrigation facilities to 57,422 hectares of agricultural land across 260 villages in Dhar and Jhabua districts.
According to the state government’s announcement, the project covers 66 villages in Sardarpur tehsil of Dhar district, accounting for 25,422 hectares, and 194 villages across different tehsils of Jhabua district, covering 32,000 hectares.

The project is intended to improve the availability of water for irrigation in the identified agricultural areas. The state government expects the expanded irrigation facilities to create opportunities for increased agricultural production.
Underground Pipeline System to Supply Pressurised Water
A key feature of the project is its underground pipeline canal system, which is designed to deliver pressurised water at 20 metres of pressure head to agricultural blocks, or chak, covering 2.5 hectares.
The system will enable farmers to use drip and sprinkler irrigation methods. According to the state government, the technology-based arrangement will help deliver water to fields, reduce the need for land levelling for irrigation and support more efficient water use compared with conventional irrigation systems.
Water to Be Lifted From the Narmada River
Under the project, 186.62 million cubic metres (MCM) of water is proposed to be lifted from the Narmada River at Chandan Khedi village in Kukshi tehsil of Dhar district.
The project will require an estimated 102.30 megawatts of electricity for its operation.
With irrigation infrastructure planned across the two districts, the project aims to provide water for agricultural activities in the villages covered by the scheme.
