Focus on Jharkhand’s History, Culture, and Tribal Heritage

Chandra Bhushan, managing trustee of Samay Publication, highlighted the surge in demand for books focusing on Jharkhand’s revolutionaries, indigenous communities, language, tourism, art, and cultural identity. He said, “Books dedicated to Jharkhand’s 24 districts, tribes, Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), and illustrated volumes on tourism, traditions, art, and culture have emerged as key attractions.”

Publishers reported high interest in multi-volume works on tribal history, freedom movements, regional identity, and tourism compendiums, reflecting readers’ desire to explore the state’s rich socio-cultural roots. Several stalls also featured popular works by noted authors, children’s storybooks, epics, biographies, and self-help titles, which have seen brisk sales.

Growing Youth Interest in Self-Development and Mental Health

The book fair has also captured the attention of young readers seeking guidance on mental health, well-being, and personal growth. Birendra Kumar, state in-charge of Samay Prakashan, noted, “Readers are increasingly showing curiosity about Jharkhand’s socio-cultural roots, history, and identity, reflecting a renewed interest in understanding the state beyond textbooks.”

Divya Ojha, a visitor to the fair, shared her thoughts: “I am glad to see so many books on history and tribal culture in one place. At the same time, mental health and self-help books are helping young people like us find guidance and balance in everyday life.”

A Platform for Knowledge, Culture, and Literature

The National Book Fair in Ranchi is not just a marketplace for books, but also a platform to promote cultural awareness, literacy, and intellectual engagement. With its wide variety of titles and publishers, the fair provides an opportunity for readers to connect with Jharkhand’s heritage, explore new ideas, and foster a love for reading among the younger generation.

Organizers hope that the fair will encourage continued interest in regional literature and socio-cultural studies, while also offering visitors insights into mental health, self-development, and contemporary issues.
