Noida: National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Government of India, has announced the appointment of Mr. Anurag Rohatgi as Government Nominee Director on its Board of Directors with effect from December 19, 2025. He succeeds Mr. Bharat Bhushan in the role. The appointment marks an important addition to the company’s leadership, strengthening its governance framework with seasoned expertise from the fertilizer sector and public administration.

Strengthening the Board with Sector Expertise

NFL stated that Mr. Rohatgi’s induction to the Board comes at a crucial time as the company continues to align its growth strategy with national priorities in agriculture and food security. His extensive exposure to fertilizer policy, institutional planning, and coordination within the Government of India is expected to add significant value to the company’s strategic decision-making.

Professional Background and Current Role

Born in September 1970, Mr. Anurag Rohatgi holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry, providing him with a strong technical foundation relevant to the fertilizer industry. He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, where he is closely involved in policy formulation and implementation across the sector.

Previous Board-Level Experience

Mr. Rohatgi brings with him valuable board-level experience, having earlier served as Director on the Board of Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited. He has also held the position of Additional Director at Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL), contributing to strategic oversight and operational planning at major fertilizer public sector enterprises.

Areas of Expertise and Key Contributions

His areas of expertise span a wide range of critical domains, including fertilizer innovation, phosphorus and potassium (P&K) fertilizers, and the development of non-chemical and organic fertilizers. Mr. Rohatgi has also worked extensively on international cooperation initiatives, raw material input intelligence, and institutional planning and coordination. In addition, he has been associated with the implementation of key government programmes such as PM-Kisan, PMKS, and initiatives like Chintan Shivir, aimed at strengthening farmer welfare and sectoral reforms.

Tenure and Regulatory Compliance

The appointment of Mr. Rohatgi as Government Nominee Director is for a period of three years from December 19, 2025, or until his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. As per disclosures made by NFL, there is no relationship between Mr. Rohatgi and other directors of the company, and he has not been debarred by SEBI or any other regulatory authority.

The company has duly informed the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited about the change in board composition, in compliance with SEBI listing regulations, ensuring full transparency.

Outlook and Strategic Significance

NFL welcomed Mr. Rohatgi to its Board and expressed confidence that his technical expertise, administrative experience, and deep understanding of fertilizer policy will help strengthen the company’s growth trajectory and reinforce alignment with the objectives of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.
