New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Test House (NTH) to enhance quality assurance and independent testing across national highway construction projects in India. The MoU was signed at the NHAI Headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and Bharat Khera, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, along with senior officials from both organizations.

Key Objectives of the MoU

The collaboration is aimed at strengthening quality control and standardization across NHAI projects. Key features of the agreement include:

  • Independent third-party testing of construction materials and components
  • Verification of engineering systems to ensure compliance with technical specifications
  • Strict adherence to BIS codes, MoRTH standards, and international quality benchmarks
  • Technical support and evaluation for complex and critical infrastructure components

Through these measures, the partnership seeks to ensure long-term durability, safety, and reliability of national highway infrastructure.

Enhancing Project Execution and Safety

Special emphasis will be placed on performance-critical elements, including roadway lighting, energy-efficient systems, and other safety infrastructure, helping improve overall road safety and operational efficiency.

The collaboration also promotes capacity building and knowledge sharing, with training programs for NHAI officers and stakeholders on best practices in material testing, quality assurance, and infrastructure management.

Institutional Collaboration and Transparency

The association with NTH, a nationally recognized testing and quality assurance institution, will enhance transparency, accountability, and reliability in NHAI project execution. By leveraging NTH’s expertise, NHAI aims to deliver uniform, standardized, and high-quality highway infrastructure across India.
